Research towards the Footwear Manifesto
report was initiated as an outcome of a summit
in 2022 that brought thought leaders from the
footwear industry, waste management,
investors, and government to MIT to discuss
opportunities for footwear in the circular
economy. As of September 2023, the report is
available to the entire industry and the public.
The Fashion Compass v1.0 is a guide tool with
the aspiration to build a unique path to reduce
the negative impacts of the Fashion Industry.

On November 22, 2019, MIT convened a summit
that brought together thought leaders from
academia, industry and government to discuss opportunities and challenges facing the textile
industry today, tomorrow and 20 years into the
future.
